End of Elite 8 Update

NC State continued its magical run on Sunday, top-seeded Purdue downed Tennessee, and the Final Four is set! 

In the pool, Aunt Holly used a correct Purdue pick to surge into a 4-point lead, and is sitting pretty at 73 points. Tenacious D and Buddy Ryan are tied for second at 69, The Reverend, Recedinghairliners, and ENEMIGO are tied at 68, and three players – Beavis, Duke, and Gus the Bus – are tied at 67. Head to the site for complete standings heading into the Final Four.

UConn will play Alabama in one semifinal, and Purdue will meet NC State in the other.

At this point in the pool, it makes sense to look at who the leaders have picked in the Final Four (although nothing is certain).  Aunt Holly has Purdue beating Alabama in the national championship game (both teams are still alive), Tenacious D has Houston beating UConn in the final (Houston eliminated), Buddy Ryan has Houston beating Arizona (both teams eliminated), Recedinghairliners has Tennessee beating UConn (Tennessee eliminated), ENEMIGO has Houston beating UConn (Houston eliminated), Beavis has Arizona beating Houston (both teams eliminated), Duke has Houston beating UNC (both teams eliminated), and Gus the Bus has UConn beating Purdue (both teams alive).  As you can tell, this thing is still very much up in the air, but some folks have an easier path to the win!

Wolfpack Survive and Advance

The all-ACC NC State-Duke game was pretty awesome. Duke looked good in the first half, but the Wolfpack came out on fire in the second half and won going away. The “2 DJs” (Burns and Horne) were fantastic, especially in the second half, as the Wolfpack outscored the Dookies 55-37 in the last 20 minutes.

Should be a great Final Four.  I’m still scared of UConn, but you never know.  I’ll talk to you Saturday night when we have our national championship game pairing set!
